TThe CD117 is a 146kDa transmembrane tyrosine kinase receptor that binds to the c-kit ligand. CD117 which belongs to immunoglobulin super family member known as c-kit. C-kit or stem cell factor plays an essential role in gametogenesis & haematopois. CD117 is found to be expressed in follicular thyroid carcinoma, Small cell carcinoma, ovarian carcinomas, hematopoietic stem cell, & mast cell etc.
