Description
CD30 recognizes a single chain glycoprotein identified as CD30/Ki-1. CD30 is a 90kDa precursor protein which is processed in the Golgi complex into a membrane-bound phosphorylated mature 105/120kDa glycoprotein. Anti-CD30 detects epitope that is expressed by Reed-Sternberg cells in classic Hodgkin lymphoma, the majority of anaplastic large cell lymphomas, primary cutaneous CD30 positive T-cell lymphoproliferative disorders, and in embryonal carcinomas. About one third of the Ki-1 positive lymphomas lack the leukocyte common antigen (CD45).
