Description

This antibody recognizes proteins of 80-200kDa, identified as different members of CEA family. Expression of CEA is seemed to be observed in early developmental stages of fetal gut. In intestinal carcinomas and several other tumors re-expression of CEA is observed to be in increased amounts. CEA is used in detecting early development of focal gastric carcinoma. It is also used in distinguishing pulmonary adenocarcinomas & pleural mesotheliomas. Adenocarcinomas from the lung, colon, stomach, esophagus, pancreas, gallbladder, urachus, salivary gland, ovary, and endocervix show positive result towards CEA antibody.
