Description

The P16 (INK4) is a cyclin dependent kinase (Cdk) inhibitor protein. The cell cycle inhibitor proteins family includes P15 (INK4B) P16 (INK4A) P17 (INK4C) P18 (INK4D). P16 expression is commonly associated with cellular senescence. Progression of cell cycle is regulated by a family of Cdk proteins. P16 acts as a repressor for regulation of cell cycle. Its inhibiting activity is thought to be due to the formation of binary & ternary complex
structures with Cdk proteins.
