Description
BioMarq PAS Green Stain Kit is used for in vitro diagnostic use. PAS Green staining procedure is used for identifying fungus in skin infections. Unlike GMS, the PAS-Green technique will not stain all fungi and yeast. However, fungi typically found in dermatologic specimens are commonly identified using PAS-Green.
The polysaccharide molecules in the fungal cell wall are oxidized with periodic acid to aldehydes which are then stained with Schiff’s reagent. The counter stain here is light green which provides excellent contrast background. This method is preferred over H&E to stain fungi.
